the P.W.D. lorries passing along the road. Ihe Public "Works Department were putting metal on the road. Watering No XJse. It was stated in the letter of complaint that the use of a cart in the summer did not improve the dust nuisance. "The people say that watering does no good," said the Maj'-or, "but there is nothing else we can do. It would cost about £800 to tar-seal the road and Ave can't afford that." Cr Sullivan: If they are watering the road there can't be any dust.
Heavy Dust. Cr Shaplcy: I have been speaking to the Borough Foreman about it and he says that the dust is bad. Wa have to do something for the inhabitants. Some of them can't even hang the washing on the line. It is the responsibility of the Public Works. The Mayor: There is no responsibility on the Public Works. They have just as much right to use the road as anyone else. The only remedy is to seal it but we can't do anything. Cr Shapley moved that a letter | should be sent to the Public Works Department pointing out that the passage of their lorries over the roadso raanj r times a day was creating a dust nuisance and asking them what steps they will take to combat it. Seconding the motion, Cr Sullivan said that he thought the Public Works Department should give the surface a penetrative coat. It was resolved that a letter on the lines of Cr Shapley's motion, be sent to the Public Works Department. -
