Hillcrest v Paroa

This match which took place on the Paroa wicket was remarkable for tlie low scores of each team. Hillcrest were unfortunate in not winning outright, time being called with Paroa's Pth wicket down. Hillcrest's first innings total was 65 Jackson being top scorer. Paroa failed badly in reply compiling the poor total of 39 runs. Hillcrest fared little better in the second knock scoring only 52. At one stage seven wickets had fallen for 28 runs but the "tail wagged" Abbott (14) and Williams (11) being chiefly responsible for averting a complete collapse. Paroa's second innings was even less inspiring' than their first and with the loss of 9

wickets for 33 runs, time ay as all that saved them from suffering an outright loss. It was certainly a day out for the bowlers. . Gillam's 10 wiekcts at a cost of 43 runs was also a sound performance*.
