CAUGHT BY POLICE MAORI WHO HAD TO HAVE BEER Prosecuting in the Police Court on Wednesday, Constable H. Hedlej r said that Tom Kereti had previous convictions for similar offences, and called Constable F. M. Fuller as

witness when a charge of entering licensed premises whilst: prohibited, and further counts relating to breaches of his prohibition order, were brought against Kcreti.

In evidence, Constable Fuller stated that on the 23rd of September, at 4.50 p.m. he inspected the public bar of the Whakatane Hotel, and saw Kereti there. He was not drinking, but appeared to have had liquor. Ten minutes later, said the con stable, he inspected the public bar of. the Commercial Hotel and found Kereti with a partly consumed 'handle' of beer before him.

Kereti was fined £1 on each of the :hree charges and ordered to pay otal costs, £2 Is.

AIDING AND ABETTING

For aiding and abetting in the supply of liquor to Maoris Kani Kingi was convicted and fined £2 and £1 7s costs, in the Police Court on Wednesday.
