Constable H. Hedley, who has been stationed at Whakatane for the last two years, has reeeivecl notice of his promotion to Sergeant and transfer to Auckland. Constable has proved himself to be an cer, and while the district \vi?l congratulate him on his promotion, regret will be felt at his departure. Mr A. G. Hultquist, M.P. left Whakatane yesterday for Wellington to attend a Caucus of the Parliamentary Party and the opening of the Centennial Exhibition. He will be home again on Wednesday, 15th; inst.
