OHOPE BONFIRE

ARRANGEMENTS for TOMORROW

POPULAR EVENING ANTICIPATED

Arrangements are proceeding apaee for the Bonfire and Fireworks display to take place at Ohope Beach tomorrow evening. Owing to the shortness of notice and the difficulties confronting tlie promoters who are only concerned with giving' the district children a treat, it has been impossible to provide anything ; approaching the fine spectacles ' which Mr L. Luke has been in the ' habit of staging. Nevertheless every ' effort will be made to make the night as enjoyable as possible from I the spectators point of view, and the following features have been- ar-

ranged

(a) Bonfire in front of Camping Ground, commencing at 8 pm.

(b) Fireworks Display lasting approximately 2 hours.

(e) Selections bj* members of Pipe Band.

(d) Novelty Entertainment,, by troupe of clowns, and special sketch "Beheading of Boy"

(e) Final Large Rocket about 19 p.m. and Anld Lang Syne.

While there will be a limited num ber of hand crackers for distribution, children are asked to bring their own and to let them off in conjunction with the general display

Appeal to Motorists

From the enquiries made at the BEACON office it has become increasingly apparent that there will be many children and their parents who will be unable to find a convej'ance to the Bench. Motorists who are making the trip are asked there fore to take as many children as pos sible with them to the beach. Those persons who are unable to get trans port of any kind are asked to be at the ROCK at approximately 7 p.m. where an attempt will be made to find a conveyance for them.
