Maoris in 1889. i A sequel to a paragraph in a Bavj of Plenty newspaper of 1889, which stated that the urnler-secretary of the Native Department had taken. £9000 to Rotorua to distribute among' the natives was the publication of another article which saidthat a number of Maoris bad arrived at Tauranga from Rotorua, and j had purchased several drays and ploughs. They reported that more were soon to follow and the merchants and tradesmen in Tauranga cxpccted to handle a considerable 1 portion of the money recently dividthc holds did not get., all the money.
