LABOUR DANCE

SUCCESSFUL AS EVER The Awakeri branch of the Labour Party is to be congratulated on staging the most successful dance of the season on Labour night in the Awakeri Hall, and the crowded floor testified to the continued popularity of the Party dances. Mr C, "Pop" Villis presented an excellent and varied programme of old and new dances and much of the credit for the pleasant time must go to him. The five Gaiety Boys gave a first class performance especially earning praise for their interpretation of "swing" music. A novelty dance the "Bobbing Waltz" was presented., and Mr Doug. Morpeth, partnered by Miss Jean Grover being the best "bobbers" and received the prizes and the acclamation of the crowd. The Monte Carlo winners were Mr J. Rust and his partner Mrs Clapson. Mr Rogers with ticket number 78 was the winner of the fountain pen.
