GOOD DAY AT MOKORUA

RUNCIMAN WINS "A" TITLE

The Mokorua Golif Club's eighth Labour Day open amateur championships and handicap tournament were held in good weather. The

course was in great order, many complimentary remarks being made and the caretakcr, Mr A. Hannay, complimented on the splendid state of the fairways and greens. Sixtysix competitors entered in the various events and good scoring and keen contests were in evidence throughout the tournament. Several who played exceptionally well had the pleasure of seeing their handicaps reduced.

At the close of the tournament the president, Mr W. J. Sharkey, expressed the thanks of the club to the competitors for the way in which they had turned- up and helped to make the tournament such a great success; he also thanked the ladies for so ahlv taking charge of the catering, and the match committee for the conduct of the tournament. He then introduced Mr A. Hayter, patron of the club, who, with the assistance of Mrs Sharkey, presented the trophies. Mr Hayter congratulated the winners on their success against such strong opposition rind expressed the pleasure it gave him in being present on such an occasion. Mr G. Peebles, speaking on behalf of the visitors, expressed their appreciation of the management and conduct of the tournament and thanked the ladies for the splendid manner in which they looked after the visitors.
