EDGECUMBE WEDDING
YILLIS—WOODBERRY
A quiet but very pretty wedding of local interest was solemnised at the Edgecumbe Presbyterian Church by the Rev J. G. Laughton on thie 9th of October, the contracting parties being Florance May, second} daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Woodberry "Homefield" Otakiri, to Frederick James, elder son of Mr and Mrs F. Villis, Awakeri. The church, daintily decorated by the Misses J. Hall, I. and D. Murray, included a beautiful floral wedding bell. Miss J. HalZ presided at the organ. .The bride, given away by her father, made a charming figure in an Empire gown of ivory slipper satin,
with long tight fitting sleeves pointed over the hands, and finished with tiny covered buttons. Shirring was repeated on ei'her side of the heartshaped neckline, and the flowing train fell gracefully from the waist, whilst her long veil of tulle fell from a halo coronet of orange blossom. Her shower was of arum lillies, and ribbon streamers. A soft shade of salmon pink embossed georgetle was Avorn by the bridesmaid, Miss Ina Woodberry (sis ter of the bride). She wore a halo of roses and silver leaves to tone, and carried a bouquet of shaded pink ice-
land poppies, heuchera, and asparagus fern. The little flower girl, Lois Miller, of Gisborne, cousin of the
bride, was in powder blue embroidered organdie witli a halo head band of pink and blue flowers to tone, and carried a posy of pale pink stocks and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother Mr K. Villis. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, forty [guests being present. The tables were decorated in pink and white. A beautiful two tiered wedding cake, made by the bride's mother, formed the centre of the bridal table. ' Mr and Mrs Woodberry, assisted by Mr and Mrs VilliS received the guests, Mrs Woodberry wearing a navy jersona frock with gold trimmings, hat and accessories to and posy of mauve and gold mones and maidenhair fern. Mrs Vil-
lis wearing cyclamen marocain with shoulder spray of real pansies, hat and accessories to match, and she also carried a posj r of anemones ami maidenhair fern. The floral work was kindly done by Mrs H. Gordon (annt of the l?ride) and Miss B. Carter, of Whakatane. TJie happy couple left later by car on a northern tour, the bride travelling in a teal blue ensemble with matching accessories.
