(By Zetland) AUCKLAND SFRING MEETING THRILLS AT ELLERSLIE The flags will again be Hying at lillcrsliu on Saturday when the Auclc land Racing Club will stage a programme that will attract some thousands of turf patrons. The acceptances, in point of number, are lully up to optimistic anticipations, and a fine percentage of thrilling contests are likely to eventuate. The racing programme will open with the Trial Hurdles, of one mile and three-quarters, in which those likely expected to be prominent in the settlement of the contest may include Gadger Hesketoon Gascyne The classic event, the Great Northern Guineas, will be imbued with great interest, consequent upon the high rank jierformcrs, Beaulivre, being a contestant in this -weight for age event. However, included in the list, are Orelio, Our Jean, Brazen Bold and Foxmond and it is quite on the cards that a good race may ensue. High in ihe estimation of backers may be Beaulivre Orelio Fils de Vaals Capable sprinters loom large in the Shorts Handicap, of six furlongs and there is likely to be spirited support in connection with the prospects of Farland Bronwen Erndale The Mitchelson Cup, one mile and a half, has drawn an acceptance of 23, at least a third of which may find some difficulty in getting the distance if the pace is on. Much fancied candidates will be Sly Fox 9.2, winner of his last two races; King Rev 9.2; Golden Sheila 8.9 (who is improving week by week); Francis Drake S.fi (who is now mould ing into racing form) and The Cardinal, a recent winner. In the summing up of the public the following trio may be prominent
Sly Fox Golden Sheila The Cardinal The Hunters Steeplechase, to be decided over two and a half miles, may find En Tour St. Musk Lucidus striving for victory. Keen interest "will be centred in the Welcome Stakes of four furlongs. High class juveniles are Avell represented in the list, and a very merry scamper should eventuate. The fancied division is likely to, com prise Lo Vaals Beau Leon Payette With 40 acceptors in the Gordon Handicap, there may be two divisions. In the First run there may be strong support for Silver Stick Maxam Noble Fox The second division may find most reliance placed on the chances of Anion Hunto Bronze Moth The afternoon's racing will closc down with the Flying Handicap, seven furlongs, and it will not" occasion much surprise if the totalisator figures denote expectations of good efforts on the part of Francis Drake Pirate King Black Musk
