This is the first of a projected series of Columbia films featuring William as the Lone Wolf. "FERDINAND THE BULL" FILMED IN CHARACTER Wallt Disney's "Ferdinand the Bull," picturisalion of "The Story of Ferdinand." is the resourceful producer's first picture he has ever made in which animal characters are not humanised to a degree. Even in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the forest animals, although they were not humanised, in the drawing, were given human intelligence and actions in many instances. However, the bull Ferdinand, his bull p 1 ay males, the horses, the bee, and the other characters act purely in animal fashion.
ABLE SUPPORT WITH DUNNE AND BOYER In keeping with its distinguished stars, sterling story and the production mounting, "The Nearest Thing to Heaven," co-starring Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer, boasts a supporting cast of exceptionally talented players. Lee Bowman, fast rising young leading man, who scored as Douglas Fairbanks Jr's rival in "Having Wonderful Time," is seen as Boyer's rival for Miss Dunne's affections. Astrid Allwyn, blonde siren, plays the "other woman" in the romantic conflict. Bringing years of dramatic experience to their respective roles, Maria Ouspenskaya, noted for her work with the Russian Art Theatre, and Maurice Moscovich, famed for his "Shylock" and "The Merchant of Venice," also have prominent roles. The story of "The Nearest Thing to Heaven" revolves around the romance between a notorious Contin-1 ental playboy (Boyer) and a sophisticated lady of wealth (Miss Dunne) whose ultimate attainment of happiness comes only after much sacrifice. Leo McCarey directed and produced "The Nearest Thing to Heaven" for RKO Radio.
DE MILLE "DISCOVERY" IN "PARIS HONEYMOON" The girl whom Cecil B. DeMille called "a combination of Helen Hayes, the early Mary Piekford, Elisabeth, Bergner and Clara Bow," plays the feminine, romantic lead opposite Bing Crosby in Paramount's new comedy romance, "Paris Honeymoon." She is blonde Franciska Gaal the little Dutcn Girl of the De Millc epic, "The Buccaneer."
