A NEW DEVICE
MOTORING ON COAL GAS NO PETROL NECESSARY British members of Parliament are shortly to be shown new types of motor car engines 'driven by highcompress'on coal gas which, it is claimed, operate as efficiently as engines driven by either oil ov petrol, according to latest advices by miUl. Evolved at the National Gas and Oil Engine Company's works at AshEngland, it is believed that the new engines may well revolutionise the fuel aspect o® road transport. The importance of the development in the eve.ut of war, when sup plies of imported fuel may be precarious, is realised in Government circles, where a keen interest in the new engines i; being shown. A scheme for rationing petrol in wai time was announced recently. Already the United Kingdom Ga; Corporation is investigating the pos sibility on setting up gas-filling sta tions in various parts of the coun try. These will refuel gas-drivei lorries and gas-driven motor vehicle from cylinders containing compress ed gas or from gas comprestor.s oi prev'scly the same principle as tha used in putting air into tyres.
