RED CROSS SOCIETY
TE TEKO LADIES RALLY CLASSES TO BE STARTED A meeting called by Mrs A. Jamieson, president of the W.D.F.U., to consider the formation of a branch of the Red Cross in Te Teko took place on Saturday last. Mrs Jamieson opened the meeting and Mrs F. Sumner of the Awakeri branch presided. After a hriefi outline of the aims and objects of the Red Cross, it was unanimously decided to form a local branch, the following officers being elected:— President: Mrs J. Thomas; vieepresidents: Mrs H. Sparks, Mrs A. Jamieson; Mrs Pepperell, Mrs B. Glen ; Mrs J. Craddock and Mrs C. Eivers; secretary: Miss J. Jamieson; treasurer: Miss K. Butler; committee: Mrs F. Linsell, Mrs Lambert, Mrs McCallum, Miss S. Tebbutt, M : ss M. Campbell, Miss I. Black ; Miss J*. Miss M. Lambert. Mrs Sumner then introduced Mrs F. Powell, Ladies' Superintendent of the Rotorua St John Ambulanc? Nursing Division, who spoke on the work of the Red Cross in England | during the last war and also of; the | operations of the St John Ambulance and Red Cross in Rotorua. It was decided to start Home Nursing classes on Tuesday afternoons in the Te Teko Hall at 2 p.m. Mrs ( F*. Sumner to supervise. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Sumner and Mrs Powell. The next meeting of the branch will be held in the Mission Hall on Monday night at eight o'clock. All interested will be welcome at classes and meetings. An, appeal is here made for the support of a)l ladies interested.
