FOOTBALLERS GIVEN DINNER
GATHERING AT COMMERCIAL
Mr H. E. Cucksey honoured his gen erous promise at the start of the football season w.ien on Saturday night he entertained Paroa and Taneatua, winners of the senior and junior championships respectively, to
dinner at the Commercial Hotel. Also present were Mr W. S.. Henderson, president of the Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union, who acted as president Mr A. Hayter, president of the Paroa Giub, Mr I. Tunui and Mr J. Hohapata. After the loyal toast Mr Henderson gave the healths of the winners of th c championships. Paroa deserved their heartiest congratulations. Last season they were beaten consistently, but they held together, turned out in full strength, and this season swept the board for a popular victory. He congratulated the Taneatua team ajso on, its success,. Mr Harawera responded and thanked thc president 'for his kind words ? and also Mr Cucksey for his generosity. For Taneatua Mr W. Sisam responded. Other speakers were Mr F. Harawera and Mr Tunui, Mr Hayter and Mr Cucksey.
