SUCCESSFUL AWAKERI DANCE

I MONEY FOR CRIPPLED j CHILDREN f The most successful dance held in the Awakcri district for same time was held last Wednesday evening in aid of the crippled children's fund. There was a large attendance, and several competitions were held during the evening. The following were the winners: Monte- Carlo, Miss M. Fowcll and Mr C. Statue Log Miss Newdick and Mr Neal. Mystery Gay Gordon, Miss R. Cropp and Mr K. Woods. The dance was organised by Mr and 3\Trs H. W. Taylor of Awakcri and its success was due to the hard work of the organisers. The dance continued to the early hours of the morning excellent music was supplied by the Gaiety Boys' Dance Band from Thornton,. Old and new dances were well catered for, and credit is due to Mr Taylor who was a capable M.C. A first class supper was provided by Mrs Taylor and helpers. The proceeds of the dance have been forwarded to Auckland and w ill be acknowledged over Station 1Y A on Wednesday, September 27 during the community sing.
