MILITARY FORCES The ratps of pay and allowances for members of the Ncav Zealand Territorial Force and' ClasS 2 of the National Military Reserve who have been mobilised for coast defence and the guarding of vital . points, Avere announced by the Minister of Defence last AA*eek. M. S. ) 10s: warrant officer, Class 1 (regimental S.M. and other ser-gcant-majors) lis; second-lieuten,ant 13s; lieutenant, 14s; captain. 16s; major, :18s.;' lientenant-colonci, 21s; colonel, 255.: These rates are not to apply lo the regular military forces. CASE OF CIVIL SERVANTS. Civil servants called up or enlisted for service are to be granted leave of absence Avithout pay, the amount of their superannuation contributions while serving to be paid by the GoA'crnment social securitj' contribution. Members of the Territorial Force National Military Reserve, or any other special force called up or enlisted for service in connection with tlie Avar emergency arc to be paid by th.e Government. Dependents l allowances for all ranks Avill be- (a) On account of a Avife or guardian, or motherless child or children under 16 years of age, 3s= (b) on account of each dependent child under Ifi years (up to a limit of .five children), Is fid; (c) on account of a widowed mother dependent on a soldier Is fid. In addition Is a day special allowance is payable to armourers, bakers, dental mechanics, butchers, bootmakers, fitters, farriers, engine drivers, motor mechanics, orderly room clerks, saddlers, shoeing smiths and wheelers. The special allowance for cooks is 2s fid. COM PULSORY ALLOTMENTS The compulsory minimum weekiy allotments to dependents are as follows:— Single men 14s; a married man without children £2; a married man Avith one child £2 15s; a married man with two children £3 10s; a married man. with three children £4. Nurses in military hospitals aaIII receive daily pav as follows: — Matron 15s; charge sister 13s; sister lis; staff nurses 9s. All nurses Avill also receive a camp allowance of ,'Ss a (lav.
