WEDDING BELLS

MARTIN" —MAUNDER . -■ -to s.^.oau ; Knox Church, Whakatane was the sccne of a charming wedding, when Myrtle' -daughter '^oiEMrs F. B. Maunder, Awakeri, was married to Leslie Thomas, youngest son of Mr and Mrs L. T. Martin, of Gisborne. The church had been beautifully decoratcd with spring flowers. The wedding music was played by Miss Hobin, and the hymn "Oh Father All Creating." was sung during the service. The Rev K. J. Watson officiated . Entering the church on the arm. of her father, the bride wore a flowing gown of oyster damask satin, 5 fashioned on classical lines, with a> sweeping scalloped train, over a silver tasselled girdle fell from shoulders. A scalloped Medici collar with a pearl necklace finished the neckline. From the front of the bodice, gathers fell from a centre panel back over the hips, forming a swathe effect. Small buttons formed a linS down the centre panel. From a halo mount of orange blossom, the embroidered tulle veil Mas pleated and swept down, forming a second train. On her arm the bride carried a sheaf bouquet of golden trumpet daffodils, interspersed with asparagus fern. In attendance were four bridesmaids, Miss Thelma Stevens of Gisborne, Miss Daphne Maunder, sister of the bride, Miss Joan McGougan, and Miss Shirley Martin, sister of the bridegroom. Two of the bridesmaids were in green and two in pink pin spotted net over satin. From thek gathered bodice fell a very full skirt, the hemline being scallopcd ant bound with satin. In each scallop, a. satin leaf was appliqued. Leaves also formed a collar for the neck, nn«l bands for the puffed sleeves. Th<? same effect was carried out in flowers for the headgear. Each carried a flowered shoe of luck Mr George Maunder of Gisborne acted as best man, and Messrs David Corstorpliine, William Holmes and William Oldham attended as groomsman, and Mr Lance Ferris acted os usher. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Parish Hall, amid a decorative scheme of spring flowers. Mrs Maunder received the guests wearing a smart ensemble of black , wool lace, over sprigged crepe in spring shades, with a shoulder spray of violets. She wore a hat in tonings to match. The mother of the bridegroom woio a costume of black with a shoulder spray of cardinal camelias. After the usual toasts had be?.ii honoured, and a large number of com gratulatorv telegrams read, the guests gathered at the residence of the bride's parents at Awakeri to* view the many beautiful gifts, an«l to bid bon voyage to the happy young couple. A frock of teal blue wool georgette with prunella accessories was worn by the bride for travelling.
