PUBLIC NOTICES WHAKATANE BOROUGH COUNCIL APPLICATION FOR SANCTION OF LOAN Notice is hereby given that the Whakatane Borough Council proposes at its meeting to be held on September 11, 1939, to consider a motion to apply to the Local Government Loans Board for its sanction to the borrowing of the sum of £7500, lor the purpose of supplying and distributing electrical energy for the benefit of the electricity supply area com prising the Borough of Whakatane, and for such purpose to do all or any of .such matters and things Avhich the Council is empowered to do by the Municipal Corporations Act 1933 and its amendments and the Public Works Act 1928 and its amendments and in particular, and without limiting in any way any of the aforesaid powers, to provide, erect and construct additions and extensions to the present system of electricity distribution and reticulation, to purchase plant, land, easements and general equipment. The of' such loan shall be a special rate of 1 4/5 d in the £ 011 the rateable value (on the basis of the. unimproved value) of all rateable properties in the Borough of Whakatane. Notice is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Ilangitaiki Land Drainag.; Act, 1910. and its amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within tlie district: constituted under the said Act, th_' general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period Ist April, 1939, to 3L-:t March, 1910 as described in the Schedule hereto. The amount of such rate? will be payable in one sum on the 26th day of September, 1939, together with the special rates already made and levied. The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Land Drain age Engineer's Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near Whakatane. at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business . SCHEDULE. Class A —On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section (> of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910 three pence and twenty:. s : x one-hundredths of a penny (3.26 d) in the pound. Class B —On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B < two pence and seventeen one-hundredths of a penny (2.17 d) in the pound. Class C—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, one penny and eight one-hundredths of a penny (I.OSd) in the pound.
