OBITUARY
MR'.GEORGE C. HAMMOND Mr George Charles Hammond, who died at Hamilton recently, aged 74 years was a member of a pioneer 9 „ Tauranga family. He was a boy Oi It when his father, Mr C. G. Hammond came out to Tauranga in, the sh : p Lady Joeelyn. Later the familv resided at the Katikati and 'l.e Puke settlements in the 'eighties, and were at Tiotorua at the time of the Tarawera eruption in 188!';. Mr Hammond moved to Napier, Palmerston North and finally to tlie Rangitikei district, where he spent many
years. He is survived by .two sons Messrs C. G. Hammond (Morrins. ville), and L. D. Hammond (Auck land) ( and by two daughters, Ales dames F. W. Attwood anil W. Daw kins (Tauranga).
