PAROA'S OVERWHELMING WIN TANEATUA BEATS WHAKATANE Saturday games under the Whakatane Rugby Union found still considerable interest on the part of the general public. The games at Whakatane were Avatched by an enthusiastic audience, Avhile the matches at Taneatua and Waimana drew fair gates. Beating the Waimana fifteen, to the tune of 34 to 10, Paroa are now certainties for the club senior championship. Tlie match Avas played in dull Aveather and aa;is last and keen till in the second half it assumed the one-sided aspect which resulted in the visiting team piling on the points. Repa Ropere played avcU for the home team and scored in good style. The Paroa backs however dominated all the open play and AvheneA'er they handled the leather ay as dangerous. Hohapata Avas Avell <"n his game and gaA-e some good displays. Waimana lost several good chances in the opening stages but could not stand the pace. M. McLean put in some good Avork but Avas not backed up as he should been. By Paroa junior's default to Taneatua on Saturday they presented the latter Avith the junior championship.- Star also had a AA'in, by default over Poroporo. Old Boys beat Reserves by 13 to 9. In the senior game on the Domain a scratch Whakatane team Avent A'ery Avell, losing to Taneatua by only one point. This Avas a Bracken Cup match.
