NEW POST OFFICE
''STIIX IN FUTURE" PLANS BEING RE-DRAWN «'lt's all still in the future"' :: said the Mayor, Mr 13. S. Barrv at Monday night's council meeting when the matter of a new post office was touched on. A letter was rcc&ived from the Postmaster-General stating tjliat borings on the site revealed that it would not be possible to provide a basement in the proposed new building and it was necessary to have the skctch_plans re.drawn.This work was in, hand and, when completed, would permit of the working plans and specifications being prepared and tenders called. The Government Architects' Office was working under extreme pressure at present and he regretted that he was unable to say at this stage when the erection of the building was like, ly to be commenced.
