STRANGE ACCIDENT
FOOT GASHED BY FALLING KNIFE An unusual accident at Te Puke necessitated Mr H. Washer-having six stitches inserted in his foot. Mr Washer was visiting his brother's butcher sliop ? and was wearing a coat across his shoulders as a cape. The hem of the coat caught the haft of a knife resting in a leather butcher's sheath and dislodged it. In, fall, ing, the knife struck Mr Washer above the heel, inflicting a severe cut and also severing one of the tendons of the foot. Mr Washer received prompt medical attention, but will be compelled to rest his foot for several days.
