Applications are invited from officers (with not less than three years' commissioned service) to fill 18 vacancies in the Regular Forces. Candidates must be physically lit and aged not less than 21 years or more than 35 years ; except in cases of officers who have had active ser* vice experience or who have served as Commissioned Officers in a Regular Unit or Corps. Period of appointment will be for not less than 1% years or more than 4% years. The first six months' service will be on probation. Permanent applications are invited from Warrant Officers and N.C.O.'s with not less than three years' service in a Regular Unit or in the N.Z. On the Ist August, an instalment of the Registration Fee (five shillings) became payable by all male persons twenty years of age or over who are ordinarily resident in New Zealand, other than those exempt. Every person who is entitled to exemption must complete the appropriate form of application for exemption within seven, days after the last day for payment of the instalment. Default in payment of the fee will result in a penalty of sixpence for rwery month or part of a month that '■lapses after ore month from the due date, with a maximum of 2s 6d for each instalment, and may also result in a prosecution. An employer who employs for more than seven days a person who is in arrear with the Registration .F'ce is liable, on summaiy conviction, to a fine of £20. The second instalment of the Social Security charge of one shilling in the pound on income other than salary or wages derived during the vcar ended 31st March 1930, by all persons, male and female, ordinarily resident in New Zealand, who have attained sixteen years of age, (except persons in receipt of a war pension in respect of tolal disablement) also fell due on the same date. A penalty of 10 per cent is incurred on any instalment; not paid within one month of the due date.
