Th prosecution arose out of a collisio between a car driven by accused an l mother car occupicd by Mr Joh: iStaples, aged 59, boot manufacture Wellington, Mrs Florence Staple; aged 16 y his wife, Miss Frances Car negie, aged 22, of Wellington, am Mr Arthur Staples, aged 24, tramca body builder Wellington, which cc curred on the Main South Road, nea •Ohinewai, on the afternoon of Apri ■ S. As the result of the collision M iind Mrs Staples and Miss Carnegii died, and Mr Arthur Staples was seri ously injured. The four occupant: of the other car, the accused, anc Mr Charles Henry Reid, aged 25, lorry driver, Matata, and Misses My it Clark, aged 18, and Natalie Clarlc, aged 19 Te Puke, were also injured Accused pleaded not guilty an*, ■was committed to the Supreme Court tit Hamilton for trial. Bail was allowed . The coroner, Mr F. Harris, sakl the inquest verdict would be post, vponed until after the trial.
