trawling at ohope

Sir % —So the man in charge of the trawler which raided Ohope Beach lately claims that he has every right to seine net (on an anchor) as close in shore as he chooses to go. On Sunday last he spent the whole day fishing in-shore—doing the beach frenx end to end. It is a shame that one man should be allowed to come and in one day wipe out the shore fishing of n< community—there are upwards of 300 dwellers at Ohope. That fishing should, in all fairness, be left for those dwellers. If such is the law then it should be altered. Surely the department is not aware of what is going on. A forty.foot boat can do as much damage as a sixty.foot boat. The net Is the same and that is what counts. Our member Mr Hultquist should see to it that the injustice to us be te-» moved. Yours etc, OHOPE RESIDENT. "Lover of Sports'' letter on the question of Sunday games, has been held over as unsuitable for publication. Misconception of the scriptures and the adoption of an individual viewpoint as though it could be applied in a general sense has raised an issue which we have no intention of opening to newspaper controversy.
