(J ■ ■» GOOD GAMES AT WEEK-END The match on the week-end between Whakatane and Rangitaiki resulted in a win for the former by 4 goals to 3. The goals for Whakatane were scored by T. De Lacey, H .O. Stewart, B. Johnston and B. O. Stewart. This match proved fast and furi. ous. The close scoring is a good indication of the game throughout. As a team Rangitaiki has improved its tactics immensely, due no doubt to the good experience gained by several of the players i'n the Country Week White Horse Cup competitions last week at Auckland. The Whakatane forwards, headed by C. Fre<? centre forward, showed more penetration than their opponents and once having rcached + hecircle showed more initiative in mak ing and seizing their opportunities to 'shoot.* If 'Curly' Learning, who is ond of the finest forwards in the Bay. had received more support from the Ran. p'itaiki forwards his several penetrat. ing runs would have poduced better results.. A word or two on the fullbacks would not go amiss. Hudson and Ngou Ngou as a combination are obviously the best seen in action yet. Unfortunately the combination was not seen to its best advantage during this match as P. Barclay:, goalie, was absent and Ngou Ngou took hh place. Nevertheless they illustrated to the spectators how it was done. There was a very large attendance of spectators wh'o numbered almost os many as witness a Rugby Auatch. This is a very good indication of public fee!ing for sport on Sunday afternoons. It should be sponsored to the fullest extent by the authorities; WHAKATANE v. RUATOKI. The match between Whakatane B and Ruatoki resulted in a win for the latter bj r 3 goals to 1.
