TOA AGROUND

TOUCHES SANDBANK OVER BAR 'WAITING" FOR HIGH TIDE 'The Northern Steamship Go's Ton, crossing the bar about 6.30 •o'clock this morning, missed t'lti .channel and ran on to a, sandbaniv where she is at present grounded waiting for this evening's tide to refloat her. There was some sea running at the time. The Toa is always an awkward vessel lo negotiate the harbour -entrance in, and on this occasion she swung broadside on to the waves and "touched the sand. There is at present seven feet of water on the bar. When she swung she apparently struck a rock, causing some damage ' her side. It may be necessary to use a larger vessel than tlie harbour Haunch to pull her off.
