ROMANCE AND HIGH ADVENTURE are portrayed in colourful old world settings, that wi'l furnish an educational treat for children arid adults alike. THONSANDS QF VISITORS WATCH PRODUCTION. j Before Warner Bros had finished shooting exterior "Sherwood Forest" sequences of their technicolour production "The Adventures of Robin Hood," in Bidwcll Park y near Chico, Calif., U.S.A. an estimated 100,000! persons had watched the company work. Each day a wclLbehaved crowd of several thousand persons gathered bs--yond the roped off area within which the company worked to watch Errol ''Robin Hood" Flynn, Olivia "Maid Marian ,, " dc Havilland v and the other stars go through their scenes. The largest single crowd to watch the company gathered on a Sunday, when an estimated 10 000 persons crowded against the ropes. The company spent nearly eight, weeks on location. , ... ARROWS RUBBER-TIPPED. To protect the members of "Robin Hood's band from themselves, Co. director William Kcighley issued orders that all arrows carried during the making of scenes in which they ara not actually used, should be rubber., tipped. Several members of the outlaw's bold band had been cut and scratched by accidentally brushing against a quiver full of steel tipped arrows, before William Keighley issued his ultimatum. 'ROBIN HOOD" SET HAD MANY LAUGHS Incongruities observed on *The Adventures of Robin Hood T,i set at the Warner Bros between scenes: Robin Hood (Errol Flynn) using a telephone, men at arms scratching matches on their chain mail, the "fierce" dogs used in, the banquet scenes arriving comfortably in their own station waggon: Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland) warming her hands in frtmt of a sun arc. The studio cat looking wistfully at a whole roasted ox; an extra trying to play bagpipes on a wineskin; Basil Rathbone in his ''Sir Guy of Gisbournc" get.up reading Harper's Bazaar; a much bc.petticoated Twelfth Century lady stepping in front of &
wind machine —blooie! If Basil Rathbone keeps on lortf enough staging fencing scenes in pictures, eventually he will be permitted to Avin on? of his battles. So fai, he has always been the loser. In ''Captain Blood,'' he Avas vanquished by Errol Flynn y and now the same star runs his rapier through Rathbone during the big ftght scene in "The Adventures of Robin Hood,' the Warner Bros Technicolour drama which is now■ showing'at the Regent Remember four nights only with matinees daily at 1.30 p.m. in answer to numerous' requests.
