SWISS IMMIGRANTS
o BIG PARTY FOR TARANAKI Comprising" probably the largest party for many years of foreign emmigrants to settle in Taranaki at one time 1 , 19 young Swiss farmers arrived at Wellington by the Awatea, says the Taranaki Herald. They will make their new home ii> the Kaponga district where emplov. ment on farms has been arranged for all of them. All of the immigrants are stated to be young people, and have rela. tives in the district. Fourteen arc young single men, while the remainder of the party comprises two married men and their wives and one young single woman. Their arrival in Taranaki is the outcome of" a com. bined movement by many farmers in the Kaponga district where there have been, many Swiss settlers for ,i number of years. Mr a,nd Mrs F. Elirler, of Manaia ? and Mrs J. Kaiser, of Kaponga, recently made a trip 'to Switzerland and it is understood that Mr Ehrler intended to bring back two young men with him to work on, his far;p . Many other settlers in the district were also anxious to secure Swiss people for their farms, and- arrangements were made with the travellers.
