WHAKATANE WINS AGAIN
Once more Whakatane have succeeded in Avinning in their matches in the Bay of Plenty B Grade Badminton Championship zone. Thurs, day night saw the Rotorua team play ing against the local team, and although Whakatane had one of the regular A team men away, Innes Wooi. liams AVho is on the injured list, the emergency man W. Howat played Aery Avell and Whakatane won by seA'en ma'tches to fiA T e. The ladies' doubles and the men's doubles were eA'enly contested, while Whakatane had the better in the combines. Whakatane have a bye next week, and the following AA'eek play Tauranga, another hitherto unbeaten team, in the King Street Hall. Results of the matches, with Rotorua names first Avere: — Ladies' Doubles: Misses Knight and Bowsfield lost to Mrs Ca>to and Miss Blythe 16.21; Misses Hampson and Ivingsland beat Misses Jacombs and Woolliams 21-13: Misses Knight and Bowsfield beat Misses Jacombs and Woolliams 21.8; Misses Hampson and Kingsland lost to Mrs Cato and Miss Blythe 4.21. Men's Doubles: Penny and beat E. Wilson and Timbs 21-12: Kingsland and Longstaff lost to H. Young and W. Howat 5-21; Penny and Aldiss beat H. Young and V/. Howat 21118; Kingsland and Longstaff lost to Wilson and Timbs 10-21. Combined Doubles: Misses Bowsfield and Penny beat Mrs Cato and Wilson 21.15; Miss Knight and Aldiss lost to Miss Jacombs and Timbs 14-21; Miss Kingsland and Kingsland lost to Miss Woolliams and Young 8-2 1 ; Miss Hampton and Longstaff lost to Miss Blythe and Howat 8.21.
