SOCIAL EVENING

MESSRS ARMSTRONG AND COY EMPLOYEES HAPPY GATHERING AT KING STREET One of those enjoyable social gatherings which' go with a genuine swing from start to finish took place in the King Street Hall last Wednesday evening, when employees of Messrs Armstrong and Co the wellknown motor firm, treated themselves and their friends to a complimentary dance. The guests were greeted at the door by Mrs S. Armstrong, Sen., who acted as hostess throughout. By 8.30' p.m. 'the hall was well filled, and the dancing commenced to the liveiy measures of Ted Hay den's Embassy Dance Band. The playing by this musical combination was popuLtwith everyone .and the dancers tieman ded encore after encore. Undei the capable control of Mr H. Branant who acted as M.C., theie weic no dull moments t-nd the hours passed all too quickly in modern and old time numbers. A lively Monte Ca.ilo created much speculation, and end. less fun, while the medleys and chain dances served to make everyone «it home from the outset. A delicious supper was served by mepibers of the social committee and the gathering at this juncture tendered a warm greeting to 'Neddo' of Radio fame and his Concept Parts', who arrived by special invitation. Much appreciated items were given by Neddo, himself who sa,ng "Because I Was Shy" and "Four and Nine." 1 Miss Kindley, of the studio j party was warmly applauded for i rendition of ''Underneath the Arches and "Gretchen von Gretchen." 'Rocko' the humourist of the party also entertained. Following the supper break dancing was continued in the same happy vein, extras being furnished by MiBert Cottrell and other members of the firm. The last dance found all present in no mood to go home and the dance* was unanimously .pronounced the most successful promoted by the firm to date.
