— O DEATH OF ABRAHAM WARBRICK AN EARLY TRADER The Bay of Plenty Times of June 13th, 1889, contains the following obituary notice: "Abraham Warbrick, a well known old identity, died at katata on, Friday last at the ripe old of /') years,. He born at Stale\ near Manchester, ]t,n££land, and - lo the Colony in 1841. During his life here he engaged in various oe_ cupations. He traded for years between Auckland and the East Coast, after which he was native interpreter. He was one of the first three appointed, the other two being Messrs. C. O. Davis and James Davis, who died in Auckland. He was twice married. His first wife was Nga Karauna, the da.ughter of Moko, Chief of the Ngatirangitihi, a great warrior, by whom he had five children. His second wife was a cousin to the first, and by her he had nine children. Five sons of his are prominent players in the Native iootball team which has just returned from a successful tour throughout England. Mr Warbrick was a well educated man, and a fluent Maori speaker. He was a personal friend of Sir G. Grey and the late Sir Donald Mc. Lean. His kind disposition made him many friends who reeply regret his death. He died at Matata after a brief illness, and was buried In the remetcry there."
