LOST IN BUSH
TAURANGA PIG HUNTERS
Three Tauranga residents Mr Louis Greenwood, Mr Stanley Nolan, nnil Master Frank Nolan (nine years oid. son of Mr Nolan), who went out pig hunting in the Oropi district early on Monday last, had. an unpleasant experience when they became L*ish_ xl. They penetrated the bush for about flf'tceni going in along the tramline from Existing Forests* mill. They were seen to enter the bush by Messrs Forsyth Bros and as they did not return in :thc evening to where they left their car parked, Messrs Forsyth Bros proceeded along the tramline and made a search of the bush until midnight without receiving any response. On the hunters returning through dense bush on Monday they were overtaken by darkness '• and were forced to stay in the bush all night, A log fire was lighted, but as they carried only sufficient provisions for the day they were without" food. At daylight they followed a valley «uul came out in the open country about 10.30. A little later they were met by Mr Forsyth and given food. Afterwards they. proceeded to their car and returned to town in the afternoon little the worse for their expert, ence. There was some apprehension whent the party did not return by morning and arrangement,si were made by the police and Mr R. H. P. Ron ay no of the Public Work* Department) ito organise a searchbut after Constable Hodge Oropi early yesterday afternoon it was found that this was -not necc>sary.
