o WHAKATA \E BEATS TE PUKE The old rivals., To Puke and Whnkatane met in a zone match in the Bay of Plenty B grade Badminton championship. Play was very la-en and many 4ood matches resulted. The Te Puke men proved too strong for Whakatane, but the Whakatane ladies plaved very well and won all their matches. In the combined games the honours were even. The last game played was the deeid'ng one. It proved very exciting. The score was six sets each but on a count of the scores, Whakatane ran out the winners. Results are as follows (Te Puke names and scores first): Men's Doubles: Gray and Sprait beat E. Wilson and Woclliams 21-8; Hempbell and Lay beat V. Timbs and 11. Young 21-16; Gray and Sprait beat V. Combined: Miss Gummer and Gray beat Mrs Cato and Wilson 21-6; Miss Gibbons and Lay lost to Miss Blythe •ind Woolliams 16-21; Miss Watt and beat Miss Jaeombs and Tinib-< 21.f1: Miss Roberts and Hempbell lost to Miss Woolliams and Yoilng 11-21.
