HOLIDAYS WITH PAY
COUNTY COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE The clause of the proposed two weeks' Holidays With Pay Act drew mixed comment when it came before the Whakatane County Council on Wednesday. Mr C. G. Lucas sakl at present they had 15 daj's paid holiday under this act workers would get a ealen- • da'r month. Cr v F. J. Burt said the men had a 40 hour week, thev would be working a week under this new' act. They would have afternoon tea break j next and get a 35 hour week. Cr W. McCracken said the cry was less work, more pay. The ratepayer had to foot the bill. He didn't know; if any protest would do any good./ It was part of the policy of the Gov* eminent. \ The council coukl suggest to t|\e Employers' Association that the pre. sent arrangements were adequate sadd Cr Burnett. The Government will keep on going until they have ,-T" bled everyone white. (i T It was decided to communicate with the association to the 6fleet that the council considered the/present arrangements were adequate.
