R.A.F. INNOVATION
CANNONS ON AIRCRAFT Cannons for use on aircraft are now being produced for the R.A.F. In mass quantities, says the London Daily Express. The Air Ministry is considering rc- • equipping the 330 m.p.h. Hurricane < r ( > / and 360' m.p.h. Spitfire single.seatei fighter planes with camion. At present these planes., built for i ■ carry eight machine guns, i • all a,imed and fired by the pilot. The R.A.F. will also have cannon- < '-equipped two-seater fighters. The first type of new fighter is already in full production. In, these machines the pilot will -concentrate on flying his enormously 4fast plane while his companion atVtoncJ? to its heavy armament —prob- • ably machine guns and cannon mix-V-'-ed. Already R.A.F. pilot's are flying "300 m.p.h,. Blenheim bombers as fighters as training for the new rmodels. 1 1
