COUNTY CHAIRMAN FAREWELLED GOOD WISHES EXPRESSED Bon voyage to Mr J. G. CHIT Mo Culloch, who with Mrs McCulloch, leaves for a nine months trip to the old country this weck ? found tangible expression at a happy informal gathering of friends from town and district at the Whakatanc Club rooms last Saturday evening. | Mr J. Mclsaac* the president, in a few words expressed the sentiments of all present when he said that he wished both he and his wife the very best in their trip to 'Bonnv Scotland' where they would meet their relatives and friends. He asked that Mr McCulloch convey the warmest greetings from Whakatanc to his brother 'Ned' McCulloch. The Mayor. Mr B. S. Barry, spoke of Mr McCulloch's services in a civic capacity and wished him well on behalf of the citizens. Mr W. Sullivan mentioned that the farewell was one of many which had been tendered Mr McCulloch on th c eve of his departure for a trip overseas. He would be missed during his absence abroad and he could promise him a cheerful homecomingMessrs W. Roberts and L. Lux ton i spoke as neighbours and friends and added their g'ood wishes. „ Responding Mr McCulloch, expressed his deep appreciation of the kindly expressions of goodwill whicn had been voiced by so many friends, and he could assure them all that though he looked forward with pleasure to his visit to the land of his fathers, he had in mind too, the keen atticipation, with which he would regard his homecoming. The kindly messages that had been conveyed to them both indicated only too well the great number of good friends 1 thev had in Whakatane and he thank ed them one and all.
