UNION TO REBUILD ANOTHER HANDSOME STRUCTURE Next important building job in the movement tha't is rapidly chang. ing the face of Whakatane will be the erection of enlarged premises for the Union, IBank of Australasia, on the site of their present offices on the corner of George Street and the Strand. A sitart will be made towards the* end of this month with the demolition of the existing 18 year old structure. The new building will be a single storey one in. ferro-concrcte and it will cover the whole of the bank's section, giving hvice L .s much room as the old building. The contract has been secured by Boon Sullivan, Luke Ltd and the new premises will probably be complete! in nine months. The new building will be attractive and distinctive. The architecture is modern and impressive. While the rebuilding operations are in progress the bank will open temporary premises in Ithe vacant motor showrooms of D. McL. Wallace Ltd., next to Patterson's Furnishers . The present wooden structure was built by Mr W. F. Moody in 1911.
