COUNTY ASSOCIATION MEETS
DRAW FOR SEASON
The annual general meeting of tlic Whakatane County Hockey Sub-As-sociation was held in, the Anzac Hall. Ruatoki, on May 4th. There was a large attendance which points to the success of the game during the present season, and with the two new clubs Whakatane and Rangitaud' both fielding A and B grade teams, a wider interest in hockey is anticipated throughout 'the district.
Owing to the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr E. Biddle, Mr T. Tawera was elected to the chair. The report and balance sheet for the 1938 season were presented and ap-
proved.
Election of Officers: patron, Mr A. G. Hultquist M.P.; president, Mr Tuiringa Tawera; vice-presidents Presidents of each club affiliated to the association; honorary secretary, Mr H. Melbourne; honorary treasurers, Messrs T» Tawera and H. Melbourne; honorary auditor, Mr E. Rogers; executive committee, Messrs T. Tawera, W. Rangi, R. Turnbuli E. Rogers, W. Edwards, P. Taipeti I. Trainor, M. Hohua, Free, Barclav Saint jr., P. Tawhi, P. Amai: emergency committee, Messrs Tawera, Edwards, Melbourne; selectors, Messrs Rogers, Free and Amai.
It was decided that the competitions commence on May 14 and that the championship be two rounds.
Matches will commence at 1.30 p.m. with 15 minutes grace given to travelling teams.
DRAW
The games will be played on the ground of the first teams mentioned below.
May 14: A Grade—Whakatane v Ahuwhenua; Ruatoki v Rangitaiki. B Grade —Rangitaiki v Whakatane, Hamua V Tuhoe.
May 21: Rangitaiki : v Whakatane; Ruatoki v Ahuwhenua. B grade — Tuhoe v Rangitaiki; Whakatane v
IJamua,.
May 28: Ahuwhenua v Rangitaiki; Whakatane v Run'toki. B grade— Rangitaiki v Hamua; Tuho e v Wha_
katane.
It was decided that the association endeavour to send an A and B team to Auckland this season to competc for the White Horse Cup.
The secretary wa s instructed to write to the Auckland Association for full particulars of the Suva team's visit, and see whether there was any possibility of the association obtaining a ma.tch.
Meetings will be held alternately at Whakatane and Ruatoki third week on .Friday nights.
BOROUGH ACCOUNTS
Accounts' totalling £3627 18s were passed for payment ft meetinv of the Whakatane Borough Council finance committee.
