CATTLE FATTENING Many experiments have been car. r'ed out in different parts of tlie world to arrive at the changes in the composition of a steer or bullock during the fattening process. On e experi ment carried out at the Rothamstcd Station in Eng'and demonstrated th it in every 1001b of live weight gani 7.71b was lean tissue, 66.21b was fat, 1.51b was mineral matter, and 24.61b water. Thus study showed that the fattening of rhature animals is what the term implies, the laying on of fat with but relatively little lean. Young animals will gain not only in fatty tissue, but f-Iso in lean meat.
