Miss Gwen Kent and Miss L. James leave for Auckland tojday for a few* days holiday. Miss Pat Wilson of Whakatane has returned after a vacation at Missis?* . Bay, Auckland. .1 Mr and Mrs S. L. Barry, Auckland, are visiting their son B. SBarry, Louvain Street, Whakatane. Mrs iFitchett, Paeroa, is spending a holiday at Taneatua as the guest of Mrs F. Fitchett. Mr and Mrs Len Bridger of Whakatane have now returned home after a six week's holiday ifl Australia. Mr and Mrs Stewart, . Auckland* are the guests of their father, the Rev. James Stewart, The Manse, Taneatua. Mr G. McL. Wallace, accoYnpanied by Mr N. Wallace, paid a visit to Whakatane on Monday to attend a meeting of directors of D- McL. Wallace Ltd. Mr W. S. Henderson, Whakatane, > secretary of the Bayvof Plenty Rugby Union and one of the Bay's delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union left for Wellington on Monday. He accompanied Mr W. T. Burrett, Bay President. Guests at the Commercial Hotel include: Mr Kennedy (Tauranga), Mr McMasters (Tauranga., Mr Mrs Free (Eltham), "Mr Anderson Sen. and Jun (Stratford), Mr F.ilcy (Australia), Mr Williams, Mr Ross, Mr Judgson, Mr Fairlie; Mr Taylor (Tolaga Bayi), Mr and Mrs Mather (Auckland). Mr A. G. Hultquist M.P. for the Bay of Plenty will leave Whakatane on Monday next to visit Wellington . where a Caucus of the Government ™ Party will b e held commencing oa Wednesday next thp 10th inst. Mr Hultquist expects tb return to Whakatane on the following Saturday (13th inst) and to visit the Gisbome - end of his electorate during the following week. ■■ fv Mr Maynard Canning writes to his ' s* parents from London 'that he is having a very enjoyable time in England. He signed on the Maimoa on her last trip from' New Zealand, and he says that the sea life has made him feel fitter than for years. He found the trip through the Panama Canal very impressive. The ship was lit up by searchlights and aeroplanes flew constantly overhead. Mr Cannj' , ing plans 'to sign on other vessclji " and it will probably be some time before he returns to New Zealand.
