WORK AT RUAKURA A "BIG CENTRE ESTABLISHED + , r ~ An indication of the use to which il v i;he Ruakura Farm is to be put as a research centre is provided by the new offices and laboratories which -■are now practically completed. Cov--ering an area of 5164 square feet, the new buildings will house offices, laboratories and libraries. There will be eight offices, six laboratories, a large library, record rooms and ston\ field balance and dark rooms; a total ■ of 20 rooms. There will be wide cor. and-several porches, and pro. vision has been made to allow additions at any later date. At present the research workers at Ruakura are severely handicapped through lack of adequate facilities, •and the position has become acute during the last six months as more and more research work has been in. stituted. V As Ruakura will be one of the two • centres for the new Department of Animal Disease Research, the build, ing of new offices and laboratories was -an essential item in preparing the farm. It is considered that evei more laboratories will be needed ir -the near future.
