NEW WHAKATANE BRIDGE The Whakatane Connty Council decided at its meeting on Monday that it should ask the Main Highways Board for the opportunity* to make representations as to the site of the new bridge before this was definitely fixed. Cr J. L. Burnytt said that as they represented the people of the district they would like an opportunity of stating the district's case. There were two sites in view. He reassured Cr F. Burt who asked whether the council would Have to pay anything. It was a highway job he said, and the board had hlways co-operated well with local bodies.
