RETURNED MEN
ANNUAL MEETING IN WHAKATANE SUCCESSFUL SEASON The annual meet/n.g and smoke concert of the Whakatane Returned Soldiers Association took place in the King Street Hall on Wednesday. April 19, Mr H. N. Mac Donald, the president presiding over an attendance of approximately a hundred members. The year had been a very successful one both financially and as far ac numerical strength "was concerned he said. More and more returned mew v each year were realising what the association was for, and the good work which it was doing in the way of pensions and other matters for the benefit of all ex-sokliers or saiL org. < ■ ' "i The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President, Mr H. X. Mac Donald (re-elected); vice, president., Mr F. W. K. Raymond (re-lected); treasurer, Mr C. A. Head (re-electc-d); committee,, Messrs L. Ncrris_ S. Brown, F. Britten, A. J. .Atkinson, Lcs Brown, C. Pepper, Tv. Runciman: country .representa. tives, Mr Gordon Mexted, Mr C. Le Lievrc Mr W. T. King, Mr J. Bryant, Mr Lcs Forbes. Mr T„ Gfirlick: Maori representative, Mr J. Black (Ruatoki); auditor, Mr L. Savage. Dr .T. L. past president, was given a very heartv welcome and after the business of »he annual meeting was completed, the members enjoyed a convivial evening
