Tbe Editor is desirous of affording every reasonable facility for the discussion of public j subjocts ; but it must be understood that be is in no way responsible for tbe opinions ex* ' pressed by co-respondents, TO THB BDITOB. Sib,— ls consequence of the many rumours relative to the expenditure of tbe moneys accruing from the entertainment solicited by the late Committee of tbe Mechanics' institute from the Good Templars in aid of the said Institute, I we uld feel obliged by a statement of the truth and rothing but the truth, as far as you can ascertain in your duty of public journalist. And, Sir, should those rumours be verified, I congratulate the gentlemen who ordered the beer, &c, on the success of another gratuitous and ungentlemanly insult, not only to a few well'meaning men (however they may lack the experience to combat an unsoru' i pulous interest), but also to a right-thinking [ public. — I am, &c, 1 W. Waimsly, S. of T., Charter Member I.O.ChT.
