THE PERMANENT LEVELS AND THE LEVEL STONE.
TO THE EDITOE, Sir,— Some lime ago I read in your paper that £5 had been voted to provide a stone as a permanent level. Is the stone now lying in Wharf street tho ono provided for that purpose? And, if bo, why is it not fixed instead of being as it now is, a danger to the footsteps of pedestrians ? Whiio lam writing I will ask you, Mr Editor, what is being done about tho levels? Will they ever be finished ? And if so, have you any idea when ? — I am, &o. Buildee.
