SHE LATE COLLISION- BETWEEN THR S.S. ROWBNA AND THE CDTL'JiB, VINCENT.
The cutter Vincent was towed up the harbour on Wednesday evening by the Government p s Luna. A large gap, some feet square, has beeu made in her starboard quarter by the force of the collision, and the w-hole of the after end of the vessel has been shaken. Qhree sets of frames have been put out of place, aud the poop deck- has been started on the starboard* side.. The main rai on both side 3 has- been split,, and two planks and one butt started on the port quarter. All the- internal' fittings on Sdu starboard- side of the cabin have been smashed. Fortunately none of the cargo waß injured, but the damage to the vessel is estimated at about £70. She has- been re> paired sufficiently to allow, her to proceed to Auckland,, by placing- bat* ens across the frameß, then a covering of blankets, with sheets of galvaniaed iron nailed over all. A preliminary enquiry into- the oause of the oollißion is- being made by fche Customs officer in Tauranga, the particulars of which will appear when publication is-permitted..
