Mr Eric Goldsmith has completed the survey of farm sections at Oropi edge of the bush. We trust that no time will be lost in nutting the land up for sale, Many persons are at present in the district seeking for small farm sections, say from two to three hundred acres, and whom this Oropi land would, we fancy, suit admirably. The minutes of the last meeting of the District School Committee are to hand, but owing to the great pressure on our space, wo are unable to publish them in exienso. Wo notice among other matters, the Committee have declined with thanks the kind offer of the Captain and owners of the Kowena for the use of that vessel for a children's picnic on New Year’s Day, and that the festival will bo-held on the School Grounds on New Year’s Day. Some disappointment was caused on Mom evening on account of the exhibition of fireworks not coming oil' as was announced. We have, however, been requested by the Committee to explain that the reason of this was, that tho wrong box was landed from the Rovvena, while the one containing the fireworks was carried on to Ohiwa. The mistake in tho delivery of the case was not discovered unfortunately until lato in tho evening.
