THE REV. MR JORDAN AND SCHOOL MATTERS.

TO THE IDITOa.' | Sins—l was an amused spectator at tie- I, recent Church mooting, and did not regret 1 that the counter attraction of the Airec | Troupe mm not sufficient to keep mo away I from the more entertaining exhibition of tho- I two. But, Mr Editor, what I want to write 1 about i* only a very trifling portion of the § proceedings, and that is Mr Jordan and his- J school. 1 am not too well posted up in | Church matters, but from what I have been I told from "the man in the street" I understand g that when the rev. gentleman was engaged it | was specially bargained for that he should- | teach school as well; thereby the guarantor* | who became responsible for any deficiency m J his screw had a first .rate chance- to repay | themselves, if necessary, in the shape of a | first-class education for their boys by a first- L * class college man at a very third-class price. * It appears that since- the oflW went to tho t old country the District School has been. ! ; established, and these gentlemen are now aWo j to get their children educated at a nominal f figure. This will account for the falling off i in tho attendance at Mr J.'s school, and also ; for the withdrawal of the old guarantors, who , now see no benefits ti be derived from \ continuing their guarantee. It is pleasing to * find that we have men amongst us who come J, forward without having any private personal : ; ends to serve.—l am, &c, Dissenter. . )
