Fellow Settlers and Friends in Ont-districts. £UMOITB travels fast in a small ■community, and, according to report, you will doubtless bo asked shortly, in the common parlance of the day for “a share of your patronage.” You must be perfectly aware that there is here scarcely a living for one Chemist, and that a very meagre one with the utmost economy ; it is needless to say there can be nothing to share with another.. I am not a “Special Settler,” and the Government has not given me 200 acres of land to occupy. Five years since I cast in my lot with the Tauranga settlers, and invested my means in opening a Chemist’s shop where none existed before, and have had a hard struggle to keep my wife and family and pay 20s in the £, and as an Englishman and colonist of twenty years ago, I appeal (and I know it will not he in vain) to your sense of fairness and justice to support an old colonial with the kindness you have hitherto shewn me, and neither take away your custom nor divide it. It is patent to everyone that no other Chemist could possibly be wanted in a community so extremely limited as ours. ARTHUR REMINGTON, CHEMIST AND DRUGGIST, TAURANGA. (Formerly with Messrs John Bell and Co., Oxford street, London, and “ Honorable Mention, Faria Exhibition, 1867/’) October 29, 1875,
